Highly accurate performance in a small footprint

Optimized for use in many different microwave applications between 7 and 15 GHz, our ultra-low-noise local-oscillator (LO) generators deliver highly accurate performance in a small footprint. They simplify manufacturing by requiring no alignment or frequency modification on the production line, and support fast time-to-market through easier design-in.

Key benefits

  • More stable frequency and lowest noise in market – PLL-based, DRO (dielectric resonator oscillator) free
  • Lowest total cost of ownership
  • Best spurious performance (improves signal quality)
  • Fastest time to market (easy to design in)
  • Lowest phase noise from 7 to 15 GHz (compliant with IESS-308 (Intelsat))

Key features

  • Proven QUBiC4X SiGe:C technology (120-GHz fT process)
  • Integrated VCO and divider PLL for Ku-band
  • External loop filter, differential input and output, and lock-detect output
  • Internally stabilized voltage reference for loop filter
  • 24-pin HVQFN (SOT616-1) package

Key applications

  • VSAT systems
  • Microwave radio

Descriptive summary

Better RF performance
Highly integrated, NXP’s LO generators save board space and make design-in easier, for lower overall cost and faster development. We offer two series of LO generators: the TFF100xHN are optimized for VSAT applications, while the TFF11xxxHN are ideal in microwave radio. All the solutions have very low power dissipation (not exceeding 400 mW), and are available in a space-saving 24-pin HVQFN package. Manufactured in our industry-leading QUBiC4X SiGe:C process, the ICs offer better overall RF performance and are more robust than their GaAs equivalents, as well as consuming much less power. The process technology also enables higher integration, for added features. NXP owns the industrial base for production (wafer fab, test, assembly), so volume supplies can be assured.

Basis of the family
The basis for our entire LO generator family, the TFF1003HN has VCO coverage of 12.8 to 13.05 GHz and accepts input signals from 50 to 816 MHz. The divider can be set for 16, 32, 64, 128 or 256, and the output level is -5 dBm with a stability of ±2 dB. The TFF1006HN is similar, but has a VCO of 9.375 GHz and supports input signals from 36 to 586 GHz. With a VCO range of 14.75 to 15 GHz and input signal support from 230.46 to 234.48 MHz, the TFF1007HN delivers the highest performance. It offers improved in-band phase noise (PN) of -140 dBc/Hz and increased minimum output power (-4 dBm). The divider setting is 64 only. The family is completed by 18 different devices operating at a center frequency ranging from 7 to 15 GHz. Their RF performance is consistent with the TFF1003HN.
